White Mask Varre is the very first character players encounter upon stepping into the vast open world of Limgrave. This mysterious NPC offers crucial guidance to new adventurers, but his narrative path also introduces players to a secret faction aligned with Mohg, Lord of Blood. Completing his storyline is highly sought after by players as it provides early access to a legendary, high-yielding rune farming location.
Finding Varre in Limgrave
Your journey begins at The First Step Site of Grace, where Varre stands waiting just outside the tutorial area. He will comment on your lack of a maiden and encourage you to follow the guidance of grace toward Stormveil Castle. To progress his storyline, you must first defeat Godrick the Grafted and speak with the Two Fingers at Roundtable Hold.
After meeting these prerequisites, return to The First Step to find a message left behind by the masked figure. The note instructs you to travel north into the marshlands of Liurnia of the Lakes to meet him again. He can be found standing right outside the entrance of the Rose Church, situated on an island in the southwest section of the lake.
Executing the Blood Invasions
When you speak to Varre at the Rose Church, he will question your devotion to the Two Fingers and provide you with Festering Bloody Fingers. To advance the questline, you are required to use these items to invade the worlds of other players three times. Winning these player-versus-player battles is not necessary, as simply participating fulfills his requirement.
Alternatively, players who prefer offline gameplay can progress by defeating an NPC named Magnus the Beast Claw in the Altus Plateau. Once the three invasions or the single NPC defeat are complete, return to Varre at the church to receive your next task. He will express his satisfaction with your progress and present you with a white piece of cloth called the Lord of Bloods Favor.
Soaking the Cloth and Final Rewards
The final trial requires you to soak the white cloth in the blood of a deceased maiden. The closest option is located at the Church of Inhibition in northern Liurnia, where a dead maiden sits near the statue. Another viable maiden can be found at the Chapel of Anticipation, which is accessible via the Four Belfries portals.
Bring the blood-soaked cloth back to the Rose Church to complete your initiation into the dynasty. Varre will reward you with a reusable Bloody Finger for unlimited invasions and the Pureblood Knights Medal. Activating this special medal transport item instantly teleports your character to Mohgwyn Palace, bypassing hours of natural game progression.
